Meeting People is Easy

I was approaching my stop on the metro the other day, listening to either Sufjan Stevens or Justin Timberlake on my mp3 player– I can’t remember whom right now, when some dude asked me where he could find an actual metro schedule. I told him to check out the WMATA website and I thought that would end the conversation, but he kept talking to me. Initially, I thought he was hitting on me – I was having a good hair-day – but then he asked me if I was from India. He looked more Ecuadorian than Indian, but he said he was from Bombay originally so he was basically talking to me because of our shared ancestry– there’s this implicit trust between Indians where you can just go up to one and have a conversation no problem. Maybe it’s like this between all people and I’m just a dick because I think it would be weird. Anyway, we started talking about work and he told me that he was setting up an office for his company in NoVa. He said his company does strategy development for Web-Portals or something like that, and that he needed some help in getting things off the ground with the new office. So we exchanged emails and I think he wants to see if I could potentially help him out. His business card was pretty crappy, but I think I’ll go chat with him if he contacts me.
