Iran

And what about this whole situation with Iran and its new President? Him allegedly being one of the kidnappers of the American Embassy in '79. That's some pretty heavy shit. Let's assume for just a second that he is who the hostages say he is. What is our government to do? Sanctions? Press the EU to sanction the government? War?

Now I'm just being silly with this next part: The US government, back in the 50's and 60's had what they called Black Ops. Highly confidential wing of the CIA. Alot of the times, the president didn't even know of their involvements for plausible deniability. They would assassinate leaders, rig elections, etc. They had alot to do under Eisenhower and J Edgar Hoover (when he was the director of the FBI) with invading Cuba in what turned out to be Kennedy's biggest mistake, the Bay of Pigs. (as you know, Kennedy didn't provide needed air support which essentially resulted in the massacre) Anyway... my point is this... what if these Black Ops still exist? Maybe in some other form than in the past. What if the US sent special ops commandos into Iran, rigged this election so that this guy would win (after all, 1000's of candidates were left off the ballet leaving the election to be decided between Ahmadinejad and Rafsanjani and Rafsanjani had a commanding lead only days before the election), giving the US adequate fodder to topple that government as well. I mean, if not Bush, Cheney in '08? It has all the makings. In '79, oil was at the heart of the issue for the US, as it could be argued it is today. Iran is probably the biggest obstacle to obtaining a western style peace in the middle east now that Iraq and Afghanistan are making their ways towards western style democracies (albeit slower than maybe the US hoped for). The EU is on the brink of getting as pissed at Iran as the US is. It could be the entire western world vs. Iran within 3 years.

There are obviously more reasons why this is not true than there are reasons that it could be. I could list the most utterly obvious ones, but they're running through both of our heads right now, so i won't bother.

I did watch JFK like 3 times in the past month though, so maybe i've just got oliver stone type conspiracies on the mind.

So enough of this. i'm going to go back to softening up my brain by reading ads on craigs list.
